In recent years, Sri Lanka has experienced a turbulent economic journey, with a significant GDP contraction in 2022. However, the economy has slowly but steadily recovered in 2023. The Sri Lankan rupee has stabilized and even appreciated, inflation has decreased, import restrictions are being eased, and interest rates are declining. These positive developments are a result of economic stabilisation measures and groundwork for institutional and regulatory reforms.
